The Polio Plus initiative aims to address a combination of factors that have led to the continued transmission of the polio virus in Pakistan by: increasing the number of children immunized; enhancing community acceptance and the security of health workers delivering the vaccine; and decreasing children’s vulnerability to polio due to malnutrition and illness.

Expected Results

The ultimate outcome of this initiative is polio eradication in Pakistan. The expected outcomes are to reduce the number of children missed during the national immunization days and to decrease vulnerability of children to polio from malnutrition and illness in endemic and targeted project areas.
