Description
On contract with the World Bank, Agriteam will strengthen the capacity of the Agriculture Growth Program – Phase 2 (AGP2) to better implement its nutrition dimension, and support Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Resources (MoALR) to implement the National Nutrition Program (NNP). This consultancy, Strengthening NSA Capacity in AGP2 Implementing Agencies will ensure a well-coordinated approach towards achieving the AGP2 nutrition outcome of Household Dietary Diversity. The focus of the consultancy is “NSA,” which explicitly incorporates nutrition objectives and concerns in agricultural and food systems activities in order to improve diets and raise levels of food and nutrition security (United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), 2015). Consultancy activities will address specific gaps related to individual and organizational commitment and competencies that need to be addressed across AGP2 Project Coordinating Units (PCUs) and all implementing agencies (IAs) responsible for AGP implementation.

Results & Indicators
Expected Results
The planned results of the project are: (1) Commitment among leaders raised to support NSA plans; (2) Knowledge & capacity created at regional level to mainstream NSA; (3) Mainstream & rollout NSA to AGP2 Woredas; (4) NSA technologies demonstrated in 12 Woredas; (5) Joint plans & M&E are developed & used; and (6) Coordination & support networks established
Achieved Results
The project has just completed one year of implementation. Four NSA Capacity Development Cohorts have been formed and trained. The cohorts comprise Master Facilitators who are prepared to scale training down to woreda levels. In the agriculture sector, leaders and IA managers at regional levels have become aware of the importance of mainstreaming nutrition in their activities, and including NSA in their annual plans. With an improved vertical and horizontal coordination system, the capacity and knowledge to operationalize and institutionalize NSA mainstreaming will be sufficiently created at the regional level.
