Description


The project aims to strengthen the capacities of the Colombian National Center for Historic Memory (CNMH) in preparing for the establishment of the Truth Commission, taking into account the differential focus on gender. Project activities include: (1) supporting strategic activities for the reconstruction of memory, coexistence, a culture of respect, tolerance and peaceful resolution of conflicts; (2) working to identify, prioritize and systemize cases of serious violations of Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law for the Truth Commission; (3) supporting women’s organizations by establishing specific activities to empower women within the process of seeking the clarification of truth, coexistence and the construction of historical memory; and (4) supporting joint activities between the CNMH and the Truth Commission to develop a territorial communication strategy on the mandates of both the CNMH and the Truth Commission.

Expected Results


The expected outcomes for this project include: (1) increased effectiveness of institutional and survivor organizations, including women survivor organizations, to implement mechanisms for clarifying truth, reconstructing historical memory and implementing measures of satisfaction, within the framework of the Law of Victims’ and the Peace Accords; and (2) increased gender fairness and equality in the construes of clarifying truth, reconstructing historical memory and implementing measures of satisfaction, emphasizing the investigation of sexual violence crimes within the framework of the armed conflict.
