This project enables the participation of representatives from eligible developing and transitional countries at the Child Survival Forum in Washington D.C., United States, from June 14 to 15, 2012. Convened by the Governments of the United States, India and Ethiopia, the Child Survival Forum presents an historic opportunity to rally the global child survival community around a single goal: ending preventable child deaths. The forum will bring together representatives from the public, private and civil society sectors to identify bold strategies for lowering the child mortality rate to 20 deaths per 1,000 live births in every country with a rate of 20 or higher by 2035, and a renewed commitment by all countries to prevent unnecessary child deaths. The ambitious but attainable target of 20/1,000 by 2035 represents a critical milestone towards the ultimate goal of ending preventable child deaths. Global participation is critical to the success of the June Child Survival Call to Action.

Return to topResults achieved as of the end of the project (March 2013) include: supporting 57 government and civil society representatives from low-income and middle-income countries to participate in the Child Survival Forum. CIDA funding supported 15 participants from countries including Tanzania, Pakistan and Sierra Leone.
