This health project is essentially a phase two of our previous health project in Afghanistan that ran from 2015 to 2018.
This project aims to address the health problems that orphans and their families face through the provision of free health services. This is carried out through mobile clinics at the community level for their less serious health problems and through a referral system with a contracted private hospital for more serious, life-threatening illnesses. In addition to healthcare services, this project is conducting awareness sessions on child rights, hygiene, and health.
As SGBV remains a violation of human rights in Afghanistan, this project is also providing direct assistance to SGBV survivors through psychosocial support. IR is also rolling out GBV IMS in the targeted provinces in close collaboration and coordination with the UNFPA and Ministry of Women Affairs.
