This grant represents Canada’s institutional support to the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). UN Women uses these funds, along with those of other donors, to support its core mandate and functions. UN Women’s mandate is focused on eliminating discrimination against women and girls; empowering women; and achieving equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security interventions. UN Women works to support global standards for gender equality and helps countries meet these standards by providing expertise and financial support.
