Description

The project aims to enhance the economic prosperity for women, and the most vulnerable and marginalized people living in Ukraine. The project focuses primarily on rural women who face barriers to fulfilling their personal and economic potential, due to limited access to resources, constrained employment opportunities, and negative stereotypes. The project aims to target Roma women, women with disabilities, and women who face multi-dimensional vulnerabilities, specifically survivors of gender-based violence, women who have served prison sentences, women living with HIV, veterans, widows, and internally displaced persons. The project also aims to target the business community and state employment centres, through gender sensitivity and mainstreaming advocacy campaigns, to holistically address the challenges women face. Project activities include: (1) conducting resource mapping and service gap analysis at the local and regional levels; (2) providing information technology training and scholarships to young vulnerable women; (3) funding formal training on a range of business-related topics, including basic business skills, as well as offering a Business Model Validation (BMV) program, aimed at helping early-stage entrepreneurs advance their start-up enterprises through skills-based training and access to financing; and (4) engaging men and community influencers to encourage shifts in the socio-cultural mindsets that undermine women’s potential and perpetuate negative stereotypes.
