Description

The project was implemented by Fundación Moisés Bertoni along with SENASA, who is responsible for component A as part of the government’s multi-million-dollar program. The project’s goal was to use Social Art for Behaviour Change to improve the sustainability of the WASH infrastructure built in seven designated Paraguay departments. Y kuaa addresses challenges related to the management, maintenance, and sustainability of the water supply networks and sanitation units. The three artists’ groups that carried out the project’s Social Art for Behaviour Change (SABC) interventions are Jakairá, Crear en Libertad, and Tierra Nuestra.

Y kuaa, which means “Water Wisdom” in the Guaraní language, is part of the Lazos de Agua Program, a multi-stakeholder partnership of One Drop, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), The Coca-Cola Foundation and Fundación FEMSA. With a total financial commitment of US$ 25 million from these organizations (US $10 M from One Drop) and complementary investments from national and local governments and the communities, as well as from executing partners. The Program provided sustainable WASH access to around 200,000 people in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Paraguay by December 2022.
