April is an important month for our Partnership as we prepare for our upcoming Beyond 2020: An Agenda for Canadian Leadership in Women and Children’s HealthConference. It is a ‘must-attend’ event for any organization or individual planning to implement women and children’s health projects and/or programs post-2020. The Conference Emcee will be Caroline Codsi, founder ofWomen in Governance and we are excited to announce that Celina Caesar-Chavannes, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of International Development will deliver the closing keynote speech.

On March 26, CanWaCH hosted an interactive webinar together with OCIC, to support Members in preparing for the Global Affairs Canada (GAC) Call for Preliminary Proposals, Partnerships for Her Voice, Her Choice. The webinar covered the call’s criteria, opportunities for partnerships and collaboration, a discussion on planned proposals and resource-sharing from CanWaCH and OCIC. A summary of the questions that were asked during the call was shared with GAC. Deliver for Good’s April Theme: Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
Women Deliver’s April “Deliver for Good” theme is Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR). Women Deliver is calling on all of us to work toward a world in which all girls and women are able to enjoy a life of choice, agency, and equality without fear of stigma, discrimination, or violence. This means investing in programs and policies that increase access to stigma-free health services, protect individual rights and sexuality and promote comprehensive sexuality education. Global Citizen Concert Champions the Health of Women and Children Around the World
Global Citizen Canada launched a petition calling on Prime Minister Trudeau to ensure that Canada is a leader for women and children’s health around the world. Signatories to the petition had the chance to enter to attend the concert, happening today in Vancouver, headlined by Sam Roberts Band.
The Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia will deliver a message at the concert promoting health and agriculture, and there will be a special video message on Women Deliver 2019 by Katja Iversen. Follow the concert on social media using the hashtags #GlobalCitizenLive and#BetheGeneration.
Call for Abstracts Open for the Canadian Conference on Global Health
The 2018 Canadian Conference on Global Health (CCGH), presented by the Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) in partnership with CanWaCH is pleased to announce the theme for this year’s conference: Fragile Environments and Global Health. “Working Together” To Save Lives
On April 11th, as part of the International Day for Maternal Health and Rights, the Canadian Association of Midwives (CAM) launched a series of videos that chronicle the successful partnership between CAM and the Tanzania Midwives Association (TAMA). Generously funded by theSanofi Espoir Foundation, the videos examine the important role the partnership and training play in empowering the reproductive choices of women and also how they save lives.
“We are committed to ensuring that the voices of southern midwifery associations meaningfully inform global maternal, newborn and child health programming…” said Katrina Kilroy, President of CAM. You can watch the videos from CAM’s YouTube Channel.

CCISD Releases New DÉCLIC Project Videos
The Centre for International Cooperation in Health and Development (CCISD) recently launched new videos highlighting the work of their DÉCLIC Project, which is focused on increasing the number of trained first-line health workers in Mali and providing future doctors and paramedics with training adapted to the health needs of local populations.
