In celebration of World Health Day 2019, and as part of the Women Deliver 2019 Mobilization Canada, Canada’s global health community came together to host “Health for All: The Journey to Empower Every Woman and Child to Thrive”. Event attendees immersed themselves in the lives of women and children around the world through a curated art exhibit showcasing the health and nutrition initiatives being delivered by Canadian organizations. Remarks were delivered by the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister of International Development and Minister for Women and Gender Equality, along with Julia Anderson, Acting Executive Director of the Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health, and Barbara Nzigiye, Women Deliver Young Leader.
Missed the event? Check out the digital series! Starting today, Lead On Canada will feature a photo series from the event over the next ten days. Through this riveting series, you will have the opportunity to see Canadian contributions at every stage of a woman’s life. Join us on this digital journey from the first one thousand days of life through to later years as a community leader and elder. There is still a lot of work to be done to ensure a world where every woman and every child has the opportunity to thrive.
Want to take action? In March, Global Citizen and CanWaCH launched a call to action for Canadians and partners around the world to express their support for the Thrive Agenda. Canada is among the world’s leading champions for women, adolescent and children’s health and rights but our current commitment will end in 2020. As we prepare to welcome the world to Women Deliver in June, now is the time to press Canadian leaders to act. Join us here.

Partners in Health Canada: Proposed Path to Universal Health Coverage
Partners In Health has developed and tested a UHC Monitoring and Planning Tool to assist with the planning and implementation of health interventions. Organically over the past 12 years, PIH gathered key players to the table to discuss this bottom-up approach of planning for care delivery and subsequently developed an open-source tool they could use hand-in-hand with district health managers. Learn more about their proposed path to universal health coverage here.
