CanWaCH congratulates the Liberal Party of Canada on its re-election

The Canadian Partnership for Women and Children’s Health (CanWaCH) congratulates the Liberal Party of Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on being re-elected by Canadians yesterday to lead the Government of Canada.

We have worked closely with this government over the past six years to champion the health, rights and wellbeing of women, children and adolescents around the globe and we look forward to continuing that work together in the coming years.

In particular, we are keen to continue our partnership with the Government of Canada and Canada’s global health allies toward an equitable global response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This work is far from over. The risk of new variants developing as people around the world remain unvaccinated puts Canada’s own recovery at risk. It is essential that Canada supports vaccination efforts in lower and middle-income nations so that we can #EndCOVIDEverywhere

We also know that women, girls and other vulnerable populations have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. That is why, alongside more than 100 CanWaCH members working in global health and the nearly 400 members of the Equal Futures Network working in communities across Canada, we are committed to ensuring that gender equality remains at the centre of our collective efforts to advance the health and rights of everyone, everywhere.

We are hopeful about the future and about our continued work alongside Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his government to achieve those goals.
