Digital Storytelling for Global Health Research and Action, one of CanWaCH’s three current Collaborative Labs, is developing actionable tools and strategies for implementing participatory feminist research methods. Over the last year, training curricula, ethical guidelines, facilitation training, in-person and virtual mentorship pilots, and other resources have been developed and tested in Uganda, with expansions into Malawi and Kenya. The digital storytelling approach was further integrated as a technical component in a recent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) initiative, where local staff leveraged storytelling to raise awareness on SRHR.
Recently, the Ugandan Ministry of Health expressed interest in integrating digital storytelling methodologies into the national health package for engagement. The team is now conducting a series of workshops to create stories with adolescents from across Uganda to capture their experiences relating to SRHR!
The Canadian Collaborative for Global Health is a CanWaCH initiative designed to investigate barriers, incubate solutions and inspire practitioners to address urgent and persistent gaps in data and evidence.
CanWaCH is delighted to host the Pan-Canadian Women’s Health Coalition! A network of 10 Canadian research hubs, the coalition is working coast-to-coast-to-coast on a range of issues relating to women and gender diverse peoples’ health. These research hubs include academic partners as well as people with lived and living experience of the issues being explored. To learn more about their findings and better understand the gender and health research landscape in Canada, follow us on LinkedIn.
Later this Spring, CanWaCH will be hosting our third Global Health Impact Summit on the theme ‘Data That Speaks: Harnessing qualitative insights for global health and gender equality’. In the leadup to this event and project spotlights throughout the year, help us by checking out your organization’s data in our Project Explorer. Two questions to keep in mind as you do so: Where might I add more descriptive data about our activities and results? What shareable tools and resources can I include?
For a quick video refresher on how to add your data, click here. View our guide to the Project Explorer user portal here. Contact us at [email protected] with any questions.
Led by Grand Challenges Canada, Science for Africa Foundation, the Geneva Learning Foundation and the Global Grand Challenges Network, the climate and health survey is a global initiative seeking insights on the most pressing climate and health challenges.
If you haven’t participated yet, now is the time. The survey closes on March 23 and your input will directly shape funding and innovative solutions for climate and health challenges. The survey is available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic and Simplified Chinese to ensure broad accessibility.
