CanWaCH November newsletter 2025: Budget 2025, a new training and looking back at ICFP!

Last chance to register! Join us for the CanWaCH AGM, featuring a powerful panel conversation

We’re only a few days away from this year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM)! Starting at 11 a.m. EST, on Monday, November 17, the virtual AGM features key CanWaCH strategic and operational updates during the business meeting. It will be followed by a critical conversation you won’t want to miss, From Crisis to Continuity: A New Vision for Women’s Health and Humanitarian Response, between Kelsey Lemon, Naqa’a Albadah and Dr. Mike Mpoyi.

Introducing our new Gender Equality Training Module

We’re excited to present a new training: Integrating LGBTQI+ programming! Held on November 25 and 27, it is designed to build the capacity and confidence of participants to integrate gender and sexual diversity into their efforts. It also provides tools to navigate resistance and the politics of ‘pushback’.

Please only register if you can attend both sessions. Space is limited to 30 participants. At this time, a maximum of two people per organization can register.

Canada’s international cooperation sector responds to Budget 2025

November 4 marked the release of Budget 2025 — and the sector came together to respond. Led by CanWaCH and Cooperation Canada, our joint response garnered more than 100 signatures in a single night from Canadian NGOs concerned about the planned cuts to the international assistance envelope.

Equity through action: The SRHR community gathers at ICFP 2025

Hosted in Bogotá, Colombia, the 2025 International Conference on Family Planning (ICFP) saw the global community gather last week to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships, and drive global progress to sexual and reproductive health and rights and gender equality. CanWaCH was pleased to co-host a reception with the Inter Agency Working Group (IAWG) on Reproductive Health in Crises bringing together members and partners to connect, share knowledge and strengthen collaboration across networks. Reflections from the CanWaCH delegation, comprised of youth and professionals from the membership, provided early first-hand insights on LinkedIn and Instagram! Keep your eye on Write to Thrive for blogs and interviews over the coming weeks.

Data matters: How the GTFN is being applied

A multilingual webinar on October 29 explored how gender-transformative work is driving real impact in nutrition and health. Practical country examples from CARE Canada and Save the Children Canada, showcased how the Gender Transformative Framework for Nutrition (GTFN) and the Systems-Based Thinking (SBT) tool are being applied in South Sudan and Yemen to strengthen equity, inclusion and resilience.

Sector moments to connect and grow

Questionnaire for CSOs: Report on the OECD-DAC Recommendation on Enabling Civil Society

The OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) has recently launched a questionnaire for CSOs. It seeks to support the collection of information for the upcoming five-year report on the implementation, dissemination, and continued relevance of the OECD-DAC Recommendation on Enabling Civil Society in Development Co-operation and Humanitarian Assistance (“DAC Recommendation”), to which Canada adheres.

Respondents are asked to kindly complete this questionnaire as fully as possible in English, French or Spanish and specify your organisation’s name in the file name of the uploaded questionnaire.
