Canada’s Foreign Policy Leadership on LGBTIQ+ Rights

Register for Dignity in Dialogue’s upcoming session on February 5th from 11:00 AM- 12:30PM EDT. 

In this session, Stephen Brown (University of Ottawa) and Momin Rahman (Trent University) will present key findings from the Advancing Dignity research report, Canada’s Global Support for 2SLGBTIQI People: Assessing the Implementation of Canada’s Foreign Policy (2016–2025). The report was commissioned by Dignity Network Canada and completed in November 2025.

The presentation will offer a brief, high-level assessment of the past ten years of Canada’s “pro-LGBTIQ” foreign policy, followed by a discussion that looks ahead to where we are at the beginning of 2026 and what comes next for Canada’s foreign policy on these issues.

The discussion will be moderated by DNC’s Executive Director Doug Kerr and will feature: Latoya Nugent (Rainbow Railroad), Kim Vance-Mubanga (Egale), and Michäel Arnaud (Égides).
