Welcome to the Indigenous, Local and Global Health Office’s Equity Film Series where we will engage in discussions about social and health equity issues facing the communities we work with.
In partnership with Awo Taan Healing Lodge Society and Mike Lang Stories, we wish to share the stories of family members of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two spirit people to call attention to the truth and the importance of trauma informed care. These digital stories were developed as part of a larger project which aimed to increase awareness of culturally appropriate care, and understanding of the impacts of colonization and systemic racism on healthcare.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion with members of Awo Taan, the producer of the digital stories, Mike Lang, and Associate Dean, Indigenous, Dr. Lindsay Crowshoe.
