Women at the forefront of action for climate-resilient food systems

16 March 2022 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

This side event at the UN Commission on the Status of Women focuses on women leaders at the forefront of action on climate-resilient food systems globally, with responses from Canadian women in agriculture. Speakers will bring both personal and professional insights on their experience and growth as leaders in their fields.

Across the world, women play an essential role in agriculture and depend on farming for their livelihoods, but they continue to face the effects of climate change. Building food systems that are gender equitable and climate resilient are integral to key development goals. Done right, investing in agriculture can have transformative impacts on equality, health, the environment and the wider economy.

Speakers include:
Isabelle Ahou Fram Tano, Côte d’Ivoire
Florence Nduku, Kenya
Pilar Martinez, Nicaragua
Céline Delhaes, Canada
Azeena Hamir, Canada
