The University of Toronto, Bruyere Research Institute, and Nutrition International were recently awarded a grant under the Canadian Collaborative for Global Health, and are now seeking a gender analyst for their lab, Addressing gender and nutrition data gaps through the operationalization of the Gender-Transformative Framework for Nutrition. The job description and application requirements can be found below.
Collaborating partner organizations are working towards an operational toolkit based on the Gender-Transformative Framework for Nutrition (GTFN). In close collaboration with the project team, the goal of your responsibilities would be a summary of best practices of participatory approaches and tools that is applicable to the GTFN that integrates inclusivity, diversity and equity.
Suggested activities may include:
− Cross-sectoral compendium: To review existing participatory approaches or tools to identify relevant resources for the GTFN and build a compendium of all existing tools and resources per GTFN domain, area of focus and region.
− Curated compendium based on the GTFN: To develop criteria based on the GTFN to gauge usefulness of resources across contexts in a participatory manner with the collaborating partner organizations, the Steering Committee and other relevant stakeholders. This may include a survey or key informant interviews.
− Relevancy assessment for the operational toolkit: To analyze the relevancy of each toolkit and resources per established criteria based on the GTFN and identify recommendations on what tools can be leveraged or developed for nutrition sector actors based on their programming and response needs.
Representation and Coordination
− Attend regular meetings (by virtual platforms) with project team.
• Demonstrated experience in gender, nutrition and program assessment-related research;
• Demonstrated experience in formal literature review and publication;
• Post-graduate degree in International Public Health/Gender Studies/Epidemiology/Nutrition or a combination of relevant training and work experience;
• Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstration of cultural awareness, diplomacy and tact;
• Demonstrated knowledge in health equity, particularly gender equity;
• Ability to work independently and to multi-task
• Strong analytical, interpersonal and coordination skills.
