To kick off the new year, CanWaCH is thrilled to welcome our new CEO, Caitlin Goggin. Caitlin brings 20 years of experience in international development and humanitarian response across Sub-Saharan Africa, Central Asia and the Middle East, most recently serving as CARE’s Country Director in Jordan.

We’re counting down to International Development Week (IDW) 2026! Taking place February 1 to 7, this year’s theme is Prosperity through Partnership.
If you already have activities or events planned for IDW 2026, please e-mail them to [email protected] to share them with Global Affairs Canada (GAC). For social media, tag @CanadaDev, access the graphics kit here and use #IDW2026. The deadline for submitting your IDW for publication on GAC’s website is January 23, 2026.
Keep an eye on our events calendar to see what CanWaCH members and partners are up to, or add your own event to our list.
On February 5, the virtual Cooperation Canada awards will be celebrating outstanding achievements in humanitarian aid and international development!
The seventieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) will take place at United Nations Headquarters in New York from March 9 to 20, 2026. This year’s priority theme focuses on ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including by promoting inclusive and equitable legal systems, eliminating discriminatory laws, policies and practices, and addressing the structural barriers that limit their rights and opportunities.
Are you planning an in-person or virtual side event? If so, we want to know! Please fill out this form or send your event details to [email protected].
In 2025, CanWaCH ran a two-day virtual training that provided participants with an introduction to understanding the inclusion of women and girls with disabilities into health and gender equality programming. We’re excited to share the training materials with all our CanWaCH members and partners in the sector, including guidance to run your own training on the topic.
The updated international assistance results reporting guide for implementers (formerly known as the “international assistance results reporting guide for partners”) is now available on Global Affairs Canada’s website, for use for the next reporting cycle.
New additions to the guide include clearer explanations of what information is needed and why, practical tools, updated templates and terminology and a streamlined structure and hyperlinks for easier navigation.

For too long, women’s health has been underprioritized. The result? Women spend more of their lives in poor health, experience delayed diagnoses and navigate care systems that were never built with them in mind.
Hosted on March 24 and 25 in Toronto, Vitally Important: National Women’s Health Summit will bring together leading researchers, clinicians, innovators and advocates from across the country for two days of conversation, collaboration and action. This is where we begin rewriting the story — together.
The next Grand Rounds session will highlight the work of the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance (CWHHA) to improve cardiovascular health for women across Canada.
It explores how meaningful engagement with People with Lived Experience (PWLE) and community partners can strengthen equity, trust, and impact in women’s cardiovascular health. Drawing on the Canadian Women’s Heart Health Alliance (CWHHA) model and collaborative initiatives such as CROWNING US, participants will reflect on what works, where gaps remain, and how to move toward more inclusive, culturally responsive collaboration.
Join the session on January 28 at 12 p.m. EST to learn more, ask questions and be part of an open conversation!
Social media feeds are busy, constantly refreshing and often filled with more cute animal content than you know what to do with. (Who’s complaining about the third one?) Your content can get lost in the shuffle — and potential voices in support of your work may never learn about it.

New CanWaCH member, the Public Health Association of BC, recently reached a major milestone: 500,000 vaccines contributed to fellow CanWaCH member, UNICEF Canada, through its Kids Boost Immunity (KBI) program!
KBI is a school-based, online educational platform for grades 2 to 12 that connects classroom learning with meaningful action, creating a cycle in which knowledge leads to real-world impact and reinforces further learning. Through KBI, students learn about health, science and vaccines, and turn their ‘learning labour’ into real UNICEF vaccine donations that help protect children around the world from diseases such as measles, polio and tetanus.
Our semi-annual data drive to update our Project Explorer is underway! We call on partners to share new projects as well as update data that is either missing or incomplete on global health initiatives. For this drive, we specifically invite you to focus on updating closed projects. Please make sure that concluded projects are marked as closed, and that their data is as accurate as possible. We kindly ask you to please share your data by Friday, January 30, 2026.
Project information can be shared through the online user portal or by filling out this Excel template. Looking for tips and resources to help you get started? Check out our user portal tutorial and user guide! For more information, please contact [email protected].
