About the organization

Health Partners International Canada (“HPIC” and the “Organization”) is a not-for-profit relief and development organization dedicated to improving access to medicine and improving health for vulnerable communities around the world. As the only charity licensed by Health Canada to handle donated medicines, HPIC contributes to health and well-being by providing donated essential medicines and supplies, responding to emergencies, and strengthening local health systems. We partner with a network of non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and medical mission teams, with pharmaceutical and healthcare product companies, and with foreign and Canadian government departments.

Your responsibilities would include researching grant opportunities; acknowledging gifts; maintaining databases and generating reports; assisting with events; creating web content and print materials. Success in this position requires building strong relationships, collaborating with team members, and aligning interactions with our mission and values. Key Duties and Responsibilities

Fundraising & Portfolio Development

  • Maintain robust fundraising pipeline by networking and researching opportunities for revenue from individual, corporate, foundation, and community prospects
  • Implement Direct Mail strategy and collect impact stories
  • Develop proposals, donor reports, and targeted correspondence
  • Secure funds through annual giving, campaigns, events, sponsorship, and major giving
  • Create and conduct presentations at meetings and funding opportunities

Data Administration, Donor Relations, Stewardship, Community Outreach

  • Maintain donor database, schedule and track follow-up, and generate reports
  • Produce mailing lists from database for invitations, newsletters, and special projects
  • Identify areas for development within database(s) to improve systems
  • Build donor relationships by phone, email, social media, website, and direct mail
  • Contribute to workshops and discussion groups in humanitarian assistance realm
  • Liaise with INGOs/NGOs, research entities, and academic institutions
  • Travel on occasion to meet with donors and other external stakeholders

Human Capital/Collaboration

  • Works with Receptionist & Database Administrator to ensure that donations are appropriately coded and entered in Donor Perfect, and that acknowledgements and tax receipts are donor-centric and (e)mailed within established timelines

Qualifications

  • College or university degree in marketing or communications
  • At least three (3) years of direct fundraising experience, with track record of success in closing 4-figure gifts, working with databases, and building long-term relationships
  • Experience researching and writing about issues pertaining to humanitarian assistance, international development, global health, and healthcare education preferred
  • Excellent verbal, writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • High level of comfort with MS Office and virtual meeting technology
  • Strong numeracy skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong understanding of donors’ interests, motivations, and giving patterns
  • Willingness to work outside of regular business hours, as needed
  • Proficiency in English and French preferred
