New Chair of the CanWaCH Board of Directors

Last week, over 800 registrants joined us at the Global Health Impact Exchange, a three-day virtual convening that put the spotlight on Canada’s leadership in global health during International Development Week. From stunning performances by artists from around the world to thought-provoking panels featuring experts at the forefront of our sector, this conference was one to remember. Government of Canada to Invest $100 Million to Support Women Impacted by the Pandemic

On February 11, the Honourable Maryam Monsef, Minister for Women and Gender Equality, launched a call for proposals for the Feminist Response and Recovery Fund. This fund  will provide $100 million to eligible organizations to support a feminist response and recovery from the current impacts of COVID-19, particularly for underrepresented women, through systemic change projects across the Women’s Program three priority areas of Encouraging women and girls in leadership and decision-making positions; Improving women’s and girls’ economic security and prosperity; and, Ending gender-based violence.  Learn more and apply here.

In partnership with Grand Challenges Canada and moderated by Julia Anderson, CEO of CanWaCH, we will bring together a group of experts to discuss mental health as one of the least addressed global health issues. CanWaCH’s Gender Equality Training resources are live! 

CanWaCH is thrilled to announce the launch of our virtual gender equality training materials, in both English and French! CanWaCH has developed this set of Gender Equality Training Modules to build the confidence and capacity of our membership in the application of gender transformative programming in women, adolescent and children’s health. Following a “Train the Trainer” design, the program consists of three core modules with a broad project cycle approach and will enable participants to cascade the training within their own organizations. Our current 2021 training offerings are full, but if you would like to be put on the waitlist for the upcoming English session in April 2021, please contact Erica Fotheringham.
