The Healthy World Conference will take an interactive and dialogue-forward approach to unpack the interconnected nature of health, gender and climate resilience. Held from May 14 to 15 on the traditional territory of the Kanien’kehà:ka Nation, also known as Montréal, Quebec, we will bring together key actors and thought leaders to critically examine how climate, health and gender transformative actions can be more effectively integrated into our work.

Congratulations to all involved and engaged in last week’s International Development Week activities! CanWaCH was pleased to partner with Bigger Than Our Borders, Cooperation Canada, ONE and Results Canada for a vibrant evening reception hosted by the parliamentary Global Cooperation Caucus. Prior to the reception, our CEO Julia Andersion spoke to the caucus, stressing the need for Canada to demonstrate steady and focused leadership and build upon Canada’s commitments across successive governments to advancing the health and rights of women and children globally.
To mark the end of the week, CanWaCH spent an evening at the launch of “Through My Eyes: Art for Development”, an art exhibition showcasing unique perspectives of how the Sustainable Development Goals impact communities all over the world. The exhibition will be travelling across Canada so be sure to keep up with WUSC to find out when it’s in your area. Based in Toronto? Meet artists from Malawi and participate in a hands-on art night, today, February 15!
Canada’s leading international cooperation agencies are united in their call for Canada to deliver on new investments on international assistance and lead the charge in shaping a more secure world. Read the Open Letter to the Prime Minister here.
CanWaCH will host its 2024 Global Health Impact Summit on May 13 in Montréal, Quebec. Through this highly practical event, attendees will explore the tools, methodologies, and indicators required to effectively measure the multifaceted impacts of climate-related challenges on the health and rights of communities in crisis – particularly women and girls. The deadline for submissions is March 11. Public registration will not be available for this event.
The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68) will take place from March 11 to 22 in New York City. Are you attending or planning an in-person or virtual side event? If so, we want to know! Please fill out this survey so we can connect with you and inform you of future plans.
On February 21, the Anti-Racist Cooperation (ARC) Hub, a dedicated coordination secretariat and a resource centre for the sector, will be hosting a session on uprooting anti-blackness. The session will help demystify anti-black racism and colorism and will provide steps to help us intentionally disrupt them in our work. Check out the ARC calendar for more events marking and celebrating Black History Month.
