Conflict, extreme drought, and the COVID-19 pandemic have converged on the people of Afghanistan, with close to 23 million people in need of urgent humanitarian support, and 19.7 million people regularly going to bed hungry – including over 13 million children.

Canadian aid organizations have come together to launch Aid for Afghanistan, a national campaign emphasizing the importance of removing barriers that are blocking the provision of lifesaving humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan for the past year. Learn more here.

People affected by Neglected Tropical Diseases often go unseen, living on the margins of their communities, including in their access to clean water and sanitation, health care, and economic and social opportunity. The Canadian Network for NTDs and WaterAid Canada put a spotlight on the importance of water, sanitation and hygiene access for people living with and at risk of NTDs in their joint statement in recognition of World Water. Read the full statement here. If you are a Canadian Civil Society Organization that would like to endorse this statement by August 23, 2022, you can do so here.
